Welcome to our new blog! I hope this blog will help increase our communication and give you insight into what goes on inside our classroom. You'll be able to find news, updates, and some pictures along the way. I hope you enjoy it!
This week we began Daily 5. We learned how to read a book 3 ways: reading the pictures, reading the words, and retelling the story. We also learned how to pick just the right books. We make sure they give us a purpose, they are interesting, that we can comprehend them, and we know how to read the words. We also learned our expectations for Read to Self this week. We want to do Read to Self so we can be "better readers", "get ready for second grade", "get smarter", and "have fun"! We are growing in our stamina for Read to Self and are up to 6 minutes already! WOW! This means we have to read the whole time, stay in one spot, and get started right away. We will work our way to a 20 minute goal. This may take us a month or more, but we will get there and then we can have choice and enjoy reading on our own! I took a few pictures from our final Read to Self time, but did not get everyone. Sorry! I hope you enjoy what you see. They are doing great!
We reviewed our rules and created our plan for behavior this week too! Here's a picture of our poster.
Finally, because of our ability to shine our light bright in Hamilton Elementary, we earned a big honor! We were the Power Pop winners!!!!! YIPPEEE!! We will get an extra recess and a special treat from Mrs. Klomparens next week! Way to go class! Keep up the great work!
