Clifford Day!

We love Clifford the Big Red Dog!  He has reminded us of how to be friends, share, and get along.  September 5 is Clifford's birthday and we didn't have school.  So, we decided to celebrate later in September.  We had lots of fun on this day!
We made words out of the letters in Clifford's name!  Mrs. Dykstra helped us do this during our RTI time!  We found many words from the letters in Clifford.

We had a special Clifford Day snack: graham bone crackers, red juice, strawberries, and Twizzlers.  Yum!

Mrs. Bosch was our special guest reader.  She read a counting book about Clifford and we were able to talk about math equations while we listened and read this book together.  Thank you Mrs. Bosch!

Towards the end of the day we read a few more Clifford books including one about Clifford doing tricks to earn treats.  The kids did some tricks to earn treats too.  They had fun pretending to be Clifford!

We had a very fun day celebrating Clifford!  Here's a nice class picture from this day.
And, below is the silly version too!

The Beginnings of Daily 5

We have been working hard at getting our Daily 5 block up and running.  I took some pictures to highlight things we have accomplished.  Enjoy!

Above were pictures from Work on Writing stamina building.  Below are pictures of us working on words.  We call this Word Work.  Before we can build our stamina, we practiced using the materials.  This way we know where the materials are, how to use them, and how to put them away.  Here are some pictures of us showing off our skills!

We are now up to 20 minutes of Read to Self stamina as well as 20 minutes of Work on Writing stamina.  Yippee!  We are building our word work stamina and learning how to do Listen to Reading this week.  Daily 5 has made reading and writing fun!
